St. Philip School School has a campus-like setting consisting of a convent/parish center, church, rectory and school accessible only by a private driveway named "The A.N.G.E.L. Way". Our maintenance personnel provide a clean and safe facility for staff and students at all times of the year. The Cafeteria, gym and auditorium are located in the lower level of the building with easy access to the outside area. Playground areas are fenced in and monitored at recess time. A school safety policy is implemented which includes identification of visitors, security locks on all doors, a drug and weapon policy, fire and disaster drills, and safety cages on the stairwells. A registered nurse is available weekly with a nurse's station available at all times. Several personnel are trained in CPR and First Aid. All staff personnel meet Pennsylvania state teacher certification. An ESAP team meets biweekly to address the needs of high risk students.
St. Philip School Library contains 7,000 volumes and has internet access with a printer attached to the computer.
There is a computer lab with a Macintosh platform and 23 up to date iMacs networked to internet access and a laser printer, and a Smart Board for instructional purposes. There is also a wireless Lab with 40 Laptop computers that are "borrowed" and go into the classrooms for state of the art technology integration. The wireless also contains a interactive board donated by the Numonics Corporation in recognition of the advances St. Philip School has made in technology integration. Both Labs have been renovated thanks to grants from an anonymous donor whose grandchildren and great-grandchildren attended the school and and the Crafton Civic Club.
In addition, there is a science lab, art room, speech lab, gymnasium, youth hall, auditorium and a cafeteria which serves hot lunches and participates in the Federal School Lunch Program..
In 1995 a fully licensed After-School Program began. On the average forty students attend the program which is open from 2:30 - 6 PM daily.
