Social Studies

The SPS Social Studies curriculum is designed to engage students to connect, experience and understand the world around them.  Comprehensive instruction and teaching tools lay the foundation to produce knowledgeable, well-informed, engrossed citizens capable of taking active roles in society.

Students study the following subjects, which are expanded upon as they advance in grades:

  • Religious & Civic Duties & Values

  • Virtual field trips
  • Junior Achievement partnership program with Bishop Canevin High School
  • Recycling Projects
  • Career Days
  • Web quests
  • Debate
  • Commemoration of Ethnic Days / Black History Month
  • Opportunity for advanced students to attend Heinz History Bowl, Phipps Conservatory Eco Challenge & America Bowl
