2013 St Philip graduate Maggie Leone is just a junior at Boston University but already she is making her mark as a photo journalist helping to keep the memory of the Holocaust alive. Maggie is the author of Flashes of Memory: The Survivor Story of Irene Lewkowicz Shashar which is published in the Spring edition of the Kavod Journal, the publication of a group dedicated to ensuring dignity for Holocaust survivors. But the story doesn’t end there. Because of her knowledge of this Holocaust survivor’s story, Maggie was asked to write the speech which Mrs Shashar delivered at the United Nations Holocaust Memorial Ceremony on 28 January 2019 at the UN. Maggie was unable to attend the event because she is presently on a study exchange in Australia.
