St Philip alumna Grace Avery '22 has been exploring art for as long as she can remember. At OLSH, she has taken Studio Art 1, 2, and 3, Ceramics 1 and 2, and is currently in AP Studio Art with a focus in 3D Art and Design. Grace loves working with different yarns and fibers as well as painting with acrylic paints. “Taking Off the Mask” was inspired by a child's imagination versus reality and uses light and dark colors of crocheted yarn to create this theme.
Grace's favorite part of creating art is seeing people's reactions to the pieces she makes. “I love to see the joy in their faces when they see my art. I really enjoy making little dolls and play foods for kids because it is so cool when they realize that some of the things I make they can actually play with and touch. Seeing little kids playing with and genuinely enjoying it makes me so happy! That joy is what motivates me to create more of my art.”
